Raising funds for Charity

Dear Friends & Family, Logo Jpeg

As many of you know, I am committed to participating (as opposed to ‘competing’!) in a ½ Ironman on September 13th in Toronto, Canada. This involves a 2km swim, followed by a 94km cycle, finished off with a 21km run.

In the current economic climate it is very difficult for charities to raise funds. The smaller charities in particular suffer disproportionately. I have chosen two children’s charities to support (see more on them below) and ask that you pledge as much as you can by reply.

I promise to show, those who contribute, the appalling pictures of Conor dragging his sorry carcass around the course.

Thank you all in anticipation.

Conor

PS Please donate as much as you can (think in multiples of €50’s!)

PPS You know your support makes a real difference.

The Charities

Barnardos.

Barnardos is Ireland’s leading children’s charity, working directly and indirectly with over 5,000 children and their families across Ireland every year. By speaking out publicly on behalf of children and their rights, they make an impact on thousands more children and young people. Barnados

They believe that every child has the right to reach his or her full potential. They work with children at risk, children who are coping with bereavement, children whose lives are drastically affected by drugs or alcohol, violence and poverty. They work directly with those children and their families to build on the strengths we believe all families have.

Hope House Hospices

When a parent is told their child will not live to be an adult it is the start of an agonising journey. A childhood terminal illness challenges every belief, emotion and dream a parent may have for their special son or daughter. Hope House

Hope House Children’s Hospices provide practical and emotional support to families facing the pain of losing their precious child.

It costs £3.5 million a year to run both hospices which rely almost entirely upon donations as well as many generous individuals who fundraise on our behalf by organising fantastic fundraising events across the regions.
